As American Idol heads into its second Top 8 week, New England’s own Alex Preston has dropped a bit in the prediction rankings, falling to fourth.
The competition gets tougher as the show inches closer to crowning a Season 13 winner, and we hope that MixFest alum, Preston continues to do his fans proud.
Alex’s mom, Alice joined Gregg Daniels and Fast Freddy recently to give us a glimpse into what happens when the cameras aren’t rolling and how Alex is handling the new-found fame.
“He’s doing great. We’ve seen him quite a bit this week, we were with him [Wednesday] night after the show. He’s just himself,” says Alice. “We went out to dinner the other night, and Paul (Alex’s dad) and I said goodbye, and he just ran across the street – his pants rolled up, no socks. He’s just the same kid.”
The hometown support from their town of Mont Vernon, NH has been nothing short of unbelievable, she says.
“It’s a small town, there’s little more than 2,000 people there,” said Alice. “We’re getting updates from our friends. They’re all going to Chunky’s Cinema in Nashua, they have an “American Idol Night” – they show it there on the big screen, and the place is packed.”
“We have one store in our town, Mont Vernon General Store,” Alice continued. “There were hundreds of people there and signs and kids […] it just takes our breath away. We can’t believe it!”
Alex’s parents have been to Los Angeles for the show a couple of times, and while they’re back in New England currently, they’re hoping to return for the finale, should Alex win.
Alex is back on American Idol tonight at 8pm for a two hour performance show. The results show airs tomorrow night (Thursday) at 9pm, where we hope Alex Preston keeps his streak of never being in the Bottom 3 alive.
